Things To Do Near Pocono Raceway

So you are going to make a long weekend out of the Pocono INDYCAR 400 and you need to some other things to do. Here are a few options for you to help you have a good time.
If you like the outdoors, one thing you could go do is go hiking at the Hickory Run State Park. The park is just west of the track and has trout-fishing streams and 40 miles of hiking trails. Another state park is the Delaware Water Gap. This park is about 20 miles east of the raceway and has several stretches of river that provides great kayaking or canoeing. There are also 27 miles of the Appalachian Trail winding through the park.
If you are a theater fan, be sure to check out the Sherman Theater. Originally built in the 1920s, the renovated Sherman Theater shows some of today’s most popular shows. When an arsonist burnt down the Shawnee Playhouse in 1985, another one was built in its place. The Shawnee Playhouse offers professional quality entertainment in a historic setting.
If you are a baseball fan, be sure to check out the Wilkes-Barre Yankees, triple-A affiliate of the New York Yankees. They have a 9-game homestand during race weekend. So drive up and catch a game!
